| | About Me & My Birds I live with my wife in Swindon, Wiltshire and, having taken early retirement, I am at home all day so I'm now kept busy with the care of my modest flock. As I have stated on my home page, I am NOT a dealer/trader (or whatever they're calling themselves these days). I hand-rear babies from my breeding pair of African Greys to raise a little money to help cover the cost of keeping the birds. I also have another pair of 'greys that were rescues - they're inseparable but have not been encouraged to breed - my policy is to let them make the choice not force them into it! By only having a small 'flock' of breeding birds it means that there are never more than a 'hand-full' of babies being reared at any time. This ensures that sufficient time is spent with each of my babies. All of my baby parrots are raised in the home so are well accustomed to the day-to-day events in the household and fully socialised with children, dogs, televisions, vacuum cleaners, washing machines, visitors, etc etc. As well as the 'greys I have a pair of Blue & Gold Macaws housed in a large, purpose-built aviary with both an indoor and outdoor flight. They had a clutch of 3 eggs last summer (2005), one of which hatched successfully and we have kept the baby. Hopefully, they will lay again soon but, if they don't, then that's their prerogative! What I can guarantee is that they have a spacious home for life (they will not be sold on/split up as often seems to happen with, so-called, 'non-productive' pairs). In the past few months I've also taken ownership of a pair of Yellow-Crowned Amazons and a pair of Black-Headed Caiques. Last but not least, a pair of Orange-Winged Amazons (that desperately needed to be removed from their previous - hideous - location!). Anyway, that's me!
